Blues in Kent

blues with bottle club…

The club was formed in 199,4 by Doug Revell,  carpenter and blues fan, together with his good friend Callum Nicoll.

Both keen to bring top class blues to Sevenoaks. The Anchor, their local pub agreed to host the blues, so Blues with Bottle Club was born.

The artist who have trod the boards of the Anchor over years  are international artists such as Little Toby Walker, Geoff Achison, Watermelon Slim , Ian Siegal and Kent Du Chaine and plenty of home-grown talent, and some of these now extremely successful musicians still return to play at the club at times.

Doug ‘s untimely death from cancer in 2005 almost led to the end of the club.  However, his family re-launched the club later that year due to public demand and knowing that it was Doug’s wish.

Over recent years the club has become increasingly successful and popular.

The recent reopening of the local theatre complex as a Community Arts Centre – the Stag – has also enabled the club to put on some bigger gigs. These are ticketed events and enables them to bring in acts which it is not possible to book for a free pub gigs .
